At a rated speed of 200Mbps the latest generation of Powerline AV Network adaptors is over twice as fast as the 85Mbps units which have helped bring Powerline Networking to the forefront.
The 200Mbps standard is aimed more towards Audio and Video uses than data networking although, of course, they do perform data networking very well too. Video intensive uses such as network game play, video and tv distribution and high quality sound distribution will benefit most from the speed boost offered.
Like all Powerline AV Ethernet Network adaptors, installation is simple and straightforward; The Solwise HomePlug AV offers SimpleConnect - a simpler way to set up your Powerline AV network. With just the press of a button, Powerline AV devices can create or join a secure network. No computer is needed. To ensure maximum security, the button on each Powerline AV adapter in the network must be pushed within 2 minutes of the first one being pushed. More units can be added later, though - details are in the manual. You do not need to reset the whole Powerline AV network.
These units are sold as singles, you will require at least two to create your network. Both versions of the Solwise Powerline AV adapter products will talk to each other so long as they are on version 2 firmware or newer (all new ones are!).
Plug two or more adaptors in to normal electrical wall sockets, connect them to ethernet network enabled devices such as PCs, Macs, Printers, a broadband internet router, a Games Console, a Media server, etc and switch on. The Powerline Networking adaptors will take a few seconds to register each other but in next to no time a network will be established throughout the office or home.
No need for drilling holes through walls and ceilings to install new cables, and no need to suffer from the drop-outs and signal reductions which plague so many wireless network installations. Just straightforward, simple ethernet networking - just plug, push and play! - as simple as that!
* 200Mbps devices such as the PL200AV may co-exist on the same network with Powerline (HomePlug) 1.0 85mbps products, but they are not compatible or interoperable with 14Mbps & 85Mbps PowerLine products. ie They can both use the Powerline Ethernet Network simultaneously but cannot "see" one another.
