At a rated speed of 200Mbps the latest generation of Powerline Network adaptors is over twice as fast as the 85Mbps units which have helped bring Powerline Networking to the forefront.

The 200Mbps standard is aimed more towards Audio and Video uses than data networking although, of course, they do perform data networking very well too. ** UPDATE 1st October 2009 - We were hoping to receive our first batch of the replacement wireless powerline adapter during the first week of October. This has now been put back a couple of weeks to the middle of the month.

A Powerline Wireless Network Adaptor which helps resolve problems with wireless networks, particularly those associated with low signal strength. If your wireless signal needs to pass through several walls or ceilings it can be weakened or interrupted very easily, leading to the unreliability problems which many of us have experienced with wireless networking.

This adaptor can be located closer to your laptop and desktop PCs (preferably in the same or an adjacent room) and should pick up a nice strong signal from them which it then introduces to a normal Powerline network to cover greater distances for internet access, file sharing, printing, etc.

In short, you can benefit from the convenience of short distance wireless connections and longer distance wired connectivity, at the same time.

Print Servers connect printers directly to the network, via a switch or a Powerline Network Adaptor, so that networked PCs and Macs can share them.

Compared to attaching a printer directly to a PC, the print server provides more flexibility in placing the printer, more cost effectiveness, better performance, and simultaneous support for printing from a variety of operating system environments and different network protocols.
