NETGEAR's XAVB101 high speed Powerline AV Ethernet Network Starter Kit is an ideal introduction and solution for connecting a PC, DVR, X-Box 360, PS3, or media center to the home network to enable high quality video streaming, gaming and voip. This starter kit contains 2 Netgear XAV101 Powerline Ethernet AV Adapters. Plug one in to an AC socket near to your router or switch, and the other near to the device you wish to network. For additional connections simply plug other HDX101s into wall sockets where convenient and connect up your equipment.

As well as being useful for PC, Mac, games console or media center network connections Built-in Quality of Service (QoS) ensures high quality, consistent performance for things like real-time HD video and audio streaming for a digital media adapter (DMA) like the NETGEAR Digital Entertainer (EVA700) or for Internet gaming and VoIP calls. Add in networked printer sharing and internet access and there is very little reason to install dedicated cat 5 or cat 6 network cables at all.

Ideal for networking larger, older or Listed Buildings
There can be few people who have not experienced the frustration of the problems walls and ceilings cause to wireless networks, with signal drop-outs, network slow downs and interruptions being all too common. Powerline ethernet network adapters are an ideal way to get around those problems in buildings where the thickness of walls and ceilings cause problems with wireless networks, and also for buildings where it is difficult (or undesirable) to install cat 5 & cat 6 network cables (Listed Buildings, or temporary offices for example).

Like all Powerline Networking equipment there is no software needed; just plug and play!

* 200Mbps devices such as the XAV101 may co-exist on the same network with Powerline (HomePlug) 1.0 85mbps products, but they are not compatible or interoperable with 14Mbps & 85Mbps PowerLine products. ie They can both use the Powerline Ethernet Network simultaneously but cannot "see"  one another.
