 Operating System
– Windows XP Professional
Windows XP
Professional is the preferred operating system for PCs which
are to be used in a professional office environment. Whilst
superficially similar to the cheaper “Home” edition it is
actually a much more advanced product specifically designed
for working all day, every day with maximum reliability in
an office environment and supports advanced features such as
Remote Desktop, File Encryption, Access control (to restrict
access to sensitive files), Centralised administration (in a
Windows Server environment), and much, much more.
 Operating System
– Windows Vista Business
Microsoft's primary stated objective with Windows Vista
has been to improve the state of security in the Windows
operating system. In addition to the security benefits,
Windows Vista contains hundreds of new features; some of the
most significant include an updated graphical user interface
and visual style dubbed Windows Aero, improved searching
features, new multimedia creation tools such as Windows DVD
Maker, and completely redesigned networking, audio, print,
and display sub-systems. The “Business” and “Ultimate”
versions are able to connect to a Network Domain whereas the
Home edition is only able to network on a peer to peer
basis.
 Optional Additional Software
– Microsoft Office 2007
Microsoft Office is designed to be
the perfect companion to Windows Vista.
It is available in a few variants ranging from the “Basic
edition” which includes just the most regularly
used applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) up to
the “Professional edition”
which includes a full suite of programmes for an up to date
office.
Note that there is no CD supplied with the OEM Microsoft
Office which we supply. You get an empty CD case and the
licence agreement / activation code. The CDs are available
from Microsoft in return for crossing their palms with
silver.
