Think of the
advantages…..
·
They’re already there
·
They rarely if ever get broken
·
They go to virtually every room and office
·
No matter how thick the walls and ceilings, the
signal will always get through
·
They even connect us to out buildings and
separate office blocks
In fact, they are a fantastic but
largely untapped resource.

Not only can they carry network signals around the office or
home, but they can carry audio, or video signals too, but more
of that later.
If you are in the position that you
sometimes require extra capacity on your network, maybe a few
extra connections for out workers who occasionally come in to
the office for example, or maybe for a temp who is only there at
peak periods, then Powerline Networking is probably the simplest
and most reliable solution for you. Instead of installing Cat 5
cable/RJ45 network sockets, or struggling with a variable
wireless signal which may or may not still be there in a few
minutes time, simply plug your network cable into a Powerline
Adaptor, then plug into the mains socket & switch on. Provided
you’ve got one connected to your network switch or file server
at the other end then, hey presto, within roughly 20 seconds you
will be on the network and can stay there as long as you like,
with NO interruptions or signal failures.
If you wish to change
offices or rooms, take the Powerline Adaptor with you, plug it
in to the wall and you’re back in
– it really is as simple as that. –
In addition to
the obvious uses (temp workers, etc)
you may find other advantages of Powerline networks.
You might, for example, be working in an
old building where the walls and ceilings are too thick to drill
through for network wires, and MUCH too thick for wireless
networks. Powerline Networking is the answer. We have several
clients (Solicitors, Architects, Surveyors, etc) who work in
substantial older buildings and have solved connection problems
in this way.
Or, you might be working in a listed
building in which you are not allowed to install a fixture such
as network cables. Powerline Networking would be a very neat and
tidy solution for you. The same is true if you want to network
your home but don’t want network cables running up and down the
walls.
Powerline Networking is a very convenient
and inexpensive way of solving many network connection
difficulties.
And it does
Audio too.
The special Audio version can be plugged in
to any mains socket and can communicate with any other audio
devices which it might find on the network. So, for example, you
might have your MP3 music files stored on one PC, but would
quite like to pipe them through to a few other rooms for some
quiet background music. Simply plug a pair of PC speakers, or a
Hi Fi into each Powerline Audio Adaptor, play the MP3 files with
Windows Media Player or WinAmp on the source PC or server (it
may be a PC, MP3 player, PSP, etc) and out comes the music!!
There are 4 audio channels so you could even have different
music in different rooms.
Very soon to be released. We’ve seen
a demo of a Closed Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) working on
Powerline so that a PC could be set to monitor several different
cameras and switch between them. You might wish to use the
system as a passive monitoring unit for difficult to see rooms
and other areas or, as the system incorporates motion detectors,
you can set it to record any moving images which it detects
straight to a PCs hard disk.
The Lab & Real World Tests….
You will be pleased to hear that the
Powerline system is as fast as most traditional network
installations. In comparisons with normal 100base cabled network
installations you should experience virtually no difference in
speed using the Powerline Network adaptor, and performance tests
of the Powerline vs 54G Wireless Networking show that the
Powerline is considerably quicker in the vast majority of cases.
Not only do they out perform the
wireless adaptor in speed,
but they also HUGELY out perform it in reliability.
I cannot stress enough to you how
solid and dependable these adaptors are.
The other performance aspect which you
might be interested in is to do with how far apart the Powerline
Adaptors can operate. We have not actually tested this ourselves
yet, but the manufacturers who supply them to us have quoted
distances of between 200 and 300 metres for reliable operation.
Compared with the recommended 100 metres for “normal” Cat 5
network cables, and much much less for 54G Wireless the
Powerline Adaptors should cause no difficulties with regard to
distances.
Free demonstration….
If the ease of installation and reliability of
the Powerline Network adaptors are of interest to you and you feel
that they may help you with a network problem or issue we would be
only too pleased to come to your offices in the South West and show
them to you in action. We could bring a laptop PC with us to link in
to your network, or we could use the adaptors to connect two or
more of your existing PCs together. When you see them working I have
no doubt that you’ll be impressed with them, quite amazed at how
easy they are to set up and also their reliability.
If you would like us to give you a free
demonstration please fill in a few brief details on the form
overleaf and fax it back to us on 01458 270080. We will call you and
arrange a mutually convenient time.
If your requirement is more urgent please email us (the address is
shown above) and we will call you straight back, or phone us on

PS. Don’t forget that the Powerline adaptors are faster and more
dependable than most wireless network solutions, and usually a great
deal more convenient to set up than a traditional wired network.
